Posts Tagged ‘Thick Waisted Brides’When to Say “NO!” to the DressNot every bridal gown looks good on every bride. There! I said it. But now the good news: unlike finding a husband, there isn’t “just one” perfect designer wedding dress for every bride. In fact, brides of every shape and size have many, many options when it comes finding a figure-flattering style. The trick is knowing when to say “No!” to a particular dress style, because then you can have fun experimenting with your remaining options. To make the task easier and less stressful for you, I have identified the top “Say ‘NO!’ Styles” for each of the bridal body types below. Petite/Short Brides: Don’t get lost in your dress! Avoid wedding gowns with puffy sleeves, busy beading, full skirts, and heavy fabrics. And forget about drop-waist bridal styles. Broad-Shouldered Brides: Avoid bridal gowns with oversized sleeves and ruffles or accents around the shoulders. And while you’re at it, stay away from halter-style gowns as well. Pear-Shaped Brides: Sorry, ladies – no sheath-style silhouette for you! Nor should your wedding gown have a lot of gathered fabric or pleating below the waist. Thick-Waisted Brides: Say “No!” to bridal dresses with rounded necklines, snug-fitting natural waistlines and heavy or tiered skirts. Hourglass-Figured Brides: Stay away from anything that doesn’t highlight that slim waist of yours! Tall/Thin Brides: Yes, you look good in almost any bridal gown. Which is all the more reason to avoid an empire-waistline dress, which will detract from your long, lean silhouette. That’s it, ladies!! Now get to the bridal salon and start trying on the dozens of other styles that will help you look your absolute best! |
